We love to have school children come here with their teachers to learn more about the world around them. Since we are right next to Blue Hole National Park and have a good relationship with the park it would be easy to coordinate a visit to Blue Hole and Jaguar Creek. Mark McReynolds, a Co-Director, has had 8 plus years of environmental education experience and would love to talk with you about your learning objectives. Activities are designed for students from Standard 4 and up. We teach at the university level as well - so high school and college classes are also possible.
Jaguar Creek can be a very fun field trip spot, but should not be thought of as just a fun field trip. Because we take education seriously we want learning to be a major part of what happens here and if that is not in line with your objectives then we are not the right place for your field trip.
- Jaguar Creek Staff led environmental education hikes.
- Self-led environmental education hikes.
- Jaguar Creek Staff led tour of facilities.
- Picnic Lunch (you bring it) or Jaguar Creek Lunch (we provide it).
Because we realize that some schools have very little money we ask that you leave a donation at the end of your visit and of whatever amount you would like for any of the above activities - except the lunch prepared by Jaguar Creek. For the Jaguar Creek Lunch we need to recoup our costs - a very simple meal of rice and beans with coleslaw and a drink would be BZ$ 3.50 per person and is due before you leave. Should you eat a Jaguar Creek prepared lunch and have educational activities we would appreciate a donation as well as the lunch fee.
It is very important that you make a firm reservation before coming and that it be as far in advance as possible. Our calendar can fill a month or two ahead - so if you have a particular day in mind please call or email early.Contact us and we can discuss what activities you would like to do and send you a reservation form.
We will have made class and or food preparations, perhaps moved our schedule around a bit and may have said "no" to other groups that wanted your spot - so it is also very important that you do come if you have said you would and that you arrive on time.
We hope to see your school bus roll down the Jaguar Creek road soon!
