Target Earth's "A Dollar A Day" Program makes a real difference!

The statistics of absolute poverty in the world today are daunting. In
fact, it's impossible to honestly grasp the scope of it. More than one
billion human beings live on less than one dollar a day.
These are people who apparently have no margins, no options, no
resources, no easy avenues for change. Their lives are determined by the
boundaries of absolute poverty. There are no economic or political
theories that can truly address the stark reality of their existence.
And yet these people are not without hope. The resilience of the human
spirit is miraculous. Family life, church life, farming, local industry
and community bonds all continue and thrive in their own way where
resources are so scarce. And people outside those communities of poverty
find ways to respond. It has always been central to our Christian
identity to walk beside those the Scripture refers to as the "least of
these." Those who are hungry, thirsty, sick and naked.
Our work at Target Earth is in that tradition. Our mission is to
"mobilize volunteers to serve the earth and the poor in regions of the
world where people live on less than a dollar a day." The poorest of the
poor are directly linked to the conditions of the earth. They cannot
ship in clean water, fresh vegetables or fruit. All they have access to
is immediately around them. Nothing else. And so we recognize at Target
Earth that to serve the poor also requires serving the earth. We like to
think that our volunteers bring hope into communities where people live
on less than a dollar a day.
"Those who are kind to the poor honor their Creator" Proverbs 14:31
Target Earth's volunteer work is supported by generous financial partners
who make a symbolic and real commitment. Our program is simply titled: a
dollar a day. We look for partners to join us by donating a dollar a day
to help us send volunteers to those communities where people actually
live on just a dollar a day.
More than a billion people live on less than a dollar a day. Can you
help our volunteers bring hope into those communities and join our a
dollar a day program? We would greatly appreciate your partnership. It
takes so little to do so much.
